The two flee into the bayou, where they meet Louis (a trumpet-playing alligator) and Ray (a Cajun firefly). They seek the help of Mama Odie, a blind voodoo priestess, who tells them they must learn what truly matters. Meanwhile, Facilier and his "friends on the other side" plot to steal the fortune of Tiana’s friend, Charlotte.

In the climax, Naveen and Tiana break Facilier’s talisman, causing his shadow demons to drag him away. They marry a swamp boatman (actually a prince again, as the marriage makes Tiana a real princess), share a true love’s kiss, and are restored to human form.
