Mars, nursing a cold brew in the corner, had his own zip drive in his pocket. Not the digital kind. A tiny silver USB that held only one thing: a voice note. Her voice, actually. From six months ago, at an open mic. She’d read a poem called “The Quiet Between Heartbeats.” He’d recorded it without her knowing.
