The brief inside was sparse: Shadow of the Serpent. Magic school. Chosen one. Dark lord rising. Groundbreaking, Lena thought. But a successful template meant they could rebrand the entire series without rehiring an artist for every sequel. If she got this right, she'd be art director by spring.
